The FMHS Class of 1956 held their 50th Class Reunion from 6/14 through 6/17/06 at various venues in the area.
A gala reception at the Craftsman Inn started the party on Wednesday evening, followed by a clambake at the “Spinning Wheel” in North Syracuse which was the highlight of Thursday’s activities. On Friday, a sumptuous dinner and dance (complete with DJ) kept the Craftsman Inn busy into the early hours. Saturday was unwind day, capped by a delightful dinner cruise on Skaneateles Lake.
53 classmates plus another assorted 20 spouses attended the various reunion activities.
Tours of FMHS, Wellwood, the Stickley factory and the Fayetteville Library as well as a golf outing and visits to old haunts kept attendees hopping during the day. Mr. Raymond Van Giesen, two retired faculty (P.Wheeler, W.Petty) and the current principal of FMHS, Mr. James Chupaila, were guests of the class at the opening reception. All were provided a framed copy of a print showing the class and faculty depicted as the “old oak tree-acorns and trunk”.
A VERY great time was had by all. A class gift will be to the FM Education Foundation. Next reunion in 5 years?
Jay
Note: A class gift of $1810 was presented to the FM Educational Foundation in August. Thanks to all of the classmates who contributed. You can read the presentation letter here.
