Following graduation from high school, since funds did not permit my attendance at Duke University as was planned, I worked for Western Electric ( ex-AT&T) in Syracuse for a year while attending night classes at SU-University College. In 1957 I matriculated full time at Syracuse University and joined the Army ROTC. Was married in 1959 and my daughter Deborah was born in 1960. Graduation with a BSEE was 1961 and was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. in the Army Reserve- Signal Corps. I deferred active duty for a year while working for Boeing out of Seattle, WN on the Minuteman Missile System at Vandenberg AFB (got lead poisoning while on that drill!).
Entered on active duty in April of 1962 at Ft. Gordon GA, and from there was assigned sequentially to Ft. Meade, MD; Ft. Monmouth, NJ; Heidelburg, Germany; Boeblingen, Germany; Ft. Belvoir,VA; Ft. Monmouth, NJ; Vietnam; Ft. Huachuca, AZ; Ft. Leavenworth, KS; University of Kansas; (lacking one day, a second tour in Vietnam, due to the "peace treaty"); Ft. Monmouth, NJ; Naples, IT; The Pentagon; Ft. Belvoir, VA. My son Lewis was adopted in 1967. I integrated into the Regular Army from the Reserves in 1964, and while attending the University of Kansas earned a MSEE and a MBA within two years. I retired out of Ft. Myer, VA in August 1987 as a Colonel. Divorced in 1993.
Since retirement from the Army, I have worked as a VP for Contel (now GTE) Federal Systems, and as a private contractor for NCR, SAGA Software, and currently Burdeshaw Associates, Ltd. (senior military think tank). Keeps me busy enough and usually out of trouble.
My daughter, an MD (OB-GYN), recently moved from Denver CO to Sandpoint ID. Married and two children. Son is in the restaurant business in Paducah KY. Married and five kids. Guess that makes me a grandfather in spades.
Will get some pictures up on the site soonest to augment the bio.
